APS Novastar Intros Economic Benchtop Pick and Place System
Benchtop assembly system.
Huntingdon Valley, PA — APS Novastar, LLC has introduced its LE40V Automated Pick and Place machine. With its small space-saving footprint and technologically advanced features, the machine reportedly rivals larger systems. According to the company, it provides an economical solution for prototyping, product development, and short-run, high-mix manufacturing applications.

The unit is equipped with Cognex® Vision System to provide PC board assemblers with the accuracy they require for placement of virtually all SMT components. Providing on-the-fly component centering with top and bottom cameras, fiducial correction, bad board mark, and pattern recognition, the machine allows accurate placement of 0201s, µBGAs, CSPs, and 15mil fine-pitch QFPs at up to 3000 cph with ±0.001-in. (0.025mm) placement accuracy. The unit operates with user-friendly Windows®-based software for panelized boards, self-diagnostics, error recognition and fault monitoring. The standard self-contained vacuum eliminates the need for a costly external air source.
